I am a Platinum-level Squarespace Expert and Certified Squarespace Trainer specializing in custom websites and narrative-led branding.
I began my career in sustainable architecture, spending over a decade focused on passive energy, carbon tracking, and community education. I collaborated with large, multidisciplinary teams on complex, global projects. While the science was compelling, I found myself increasingly drawn to the people behind the projects. Messaging gained so much more traction when it wasn't just about data but spoke through stories that others could relate to.
That shift led me to food writing, a space where story and craft met every day. I wrote for publications including Zagat, Sauce Magazine, and St. Louis Magazine, telling the stories behind a restaurant and creating a sense of place. Before long, the people I was writing about began inviting me to help shape their brands, redefine their messaging, and create spaces online that reflected who they were.
That's how I came to web design, and it's why I think about a website the way an architect thinks about a building: how people move through it and what the structure communicates. I know how to find the story inside a brand and make it land with the audience it's seeking.
Beginnings
I founded EngageTaste in St. Louis in 2013. But what I didn't expect was what I would witness from the inside.
Since 2020 alone, I've watched personal trainers and yoga instructors scramble to move their entire businesses online overnight. Furloughed executives reinventing themselves as consultants. Restaurants and bakeries pivoting to online orders just to survive. Parents helping their kids build a website because they started baking at home during lockdown and it turned into a real business. Wedding planners selling DIY guides. A boom in concierge medicine. Churches and community services adding live streaming. Therapists moving to telehealth. Music teachers and tutors hopping on Zoom. And then, as things opened back up, the rush to come back — weddings, travel, fitness, live music, all of it. I've had a front-row seat to witness how people courageously and beautifully respond to uncertainty by building something.
And that's exactly what I help them do, on solid footing from the start. If you’re exploring whether professional design is the right next step, this guide explains how to decide. If you’re already planning to hire, you can also learn what to look for before choosing a designer.

“We have gotten so many compliments since we launched, both from clients and fellow wedding vendors!
As a floral and event designer, it's important to visually convey our brand and what we can do for our clients and Sara has accomplished that goal beautifully. She has also been extremely helpful as we work on copy and the best ways to get our site in front of our ideal client.”
